Men's Lacrosse Blows Past Bobcats For Ten-Goal Victory

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's lacrosse team sprinted to a 17-7 win over visiting Bates on Wednesday evening.
 
The eighth-ranked Polar Bears are 10-1 with a 5-1 conference record. The Bobcats are 7-5 (2-4 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored five straight goals to open the first quarter. Bates finally got on the board with less than five minutes to play, but Jason Lach responded with a tally to close out the frame.
  • Bowdoin outscored the Bobcats 2-1 in the second quarter, with the lone Bates goal coming as time expired.
  • The Polar Bears held a slight 4-3 edge in the third quarter.
  • Patrick Fitzgerald and Jason Lach both scored to open the fourth before the Bobcats found a response. Bowdoin added three of the game's final four goals to close out the contest.
By the Numbers
  • Fitzgerald recorded a hat trick with an additional assist.
  • Chris Berry, Sam Raye-Steiner, Lach, and Huck Trafton all had two goals.
  • Trafton dished out four assists.
  • Cam Wietfeldt collected ten ground balls and won 17-23 on the faceoff dot, while Jed Hoggard recorded three caused turnovers.
  • Robert Hobbs made seven saves before giving way to Alec Delgado, who made one stop.
  • Bowdoin owned a commanding 48-29 edge in shots in the contest.
