Second Quarter Sinks Women's Lacrosse at Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team used a ten-goal second quarter to pull away from Bowdoin in a 18-11 win on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals improve to 10-4 (5-4 NESCAC) while the Polar Bears fall to 6-8 (2-7 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin took a 2-0 lead in the opening 4:21 of the contest, but that didn't last long, as the Cardinals rolled off 12 straight goals, including ten in the second period, to take a 12-2 edge at halftime.
  • The Polar Bears were able to cut into the lead thanks to four goals in the third quarter, but could get no closer than seven goals in the second half as the Cardinals held off Bowdoin to claim the win.
By The Numbers
  • Lauren Burke scored four goals, two on free position, to lead the Polar Bears scoring.
  • Miya Imaeda had three goals while Molly Reed had two.
  • Grace Harvey had a goal, and assist, three caused turnovers and seven ground balls for Bowdoin.
  • Wesleyan held a slim 32-25 edge in shots but held a 22-10 lead in draw controls, including an 11-0 edge in draws in the second period.
