Polar Bears Sweep Terriers In Midweek Matchup

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin softball teams swept visiting Thomas College with 10-5 and 3-2 wins on Wednesday night.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 12-14 and drop the Terriers to 7-14.
 
Game One Highlights
  • Thomas took a 4-0 lead in the first inning with a two-out rally. A bases-loaded triple and RBI single put the visitors on top.
  • Bowdoin chipped away with a run in the third and three in the fourth to tie the game.
  • Anika Ewert recorded an RBI single and Kyla Gary added a two-run single.
  • Bowdoin blew the game open in the sixth inning.
  • Ellie Sullivan and Ewert each hit a double. Sullivan plated one run and Ewert had two.
  • Reilly Parga added an RBI single and Maddie Paschke drove in two runs with a double to center.
  • Thomas got one run back in the top of the seventh.
  • Ewert went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Gary was 2-for-4 with three RBI.
  • Callie Smith went 2-for-3 and scored twice. Rosie Panenka went 3-for-3 and scored twice.
  • Ava Biasotti pitched four innings and allowed seven hits with no earned runs. Biasotti fanned four batters and walked one.
  • Maddie Current pitched the final three innings with four hits allowed and a pair of strikeouts.
 
Game Two Highlights
  • After allowing two runs in the first inning, Bowdoin played clean defense throughout the remainder of the game to keep the Terriers off the board.
  • Bowdoin tied the game in the third inning. Elise Siciliano drove in Gary and Chloe Garcia plated Gary.
  • Garcia drove in the go-ahead run in the fifth inning with an RBI single to right.
  • Thomas had two runners on in the seventh inning with only one out, but the Polar Bears came away with a shutout inning. Ewert made a play at the plate with a straight shot throw from center field to the catcher for a tagout.
  • Kathleen Hester ended the game with a shutout.
  • Ellie Sullivan started the game in the circle and went four innings with three hits allowed and no earned runs.
  • Hester pitched the final three innings and allowed three hits with as many strikeouts.
  • Ewert and Penelope Fong-Picariello both had two hits in the game.
