AMHERST, Mass. – The Bowdoin softball team earned a series split at Amherst, rebounding from a 12-8 loss, with an 11-7 win.
The Polar Bears are 10-14 with a 1-9 NESCAC record. The Mammoths are 12-11 and 3-7 in NESCAC.
Game One Highlights
- Bowdoin got on the board in the top of the first inning as Chloe Garcia singled down the right field line to drive in Anika Ewert and Sydney Lang scored on the ensuing error.
- A pair of two-run doubles in the bottom half of the inning put Amherst up 4-2.
- Elise Siciliano tied the game in the second with a two-run homer to left.
- Amherst regained the lead in the bottom of the second and took a two-run lead in the third.
- The Mammoths recorded another two-run double in the fourth.
- Lang had Bowdoin's second homerun of the day with a three-run shot to left field.
- Maddie Paschke added an RBI single.
- Amherst recorded back-to-back homeruns in the fifth to add three more runs.
- Kyla Gary and Siciliano each had two hits in the game. Siciliano recorded a double and homerun.
- Maddie Current pitched three innings and allowed ten hits with a pair of walks and one strikeout.
- Ava Biasotti pitched three innings with four hits allowed and a pair of walks.
Game Two Highlights
- Bowdoin took an early lead and never looked back in game two.
- Chloe Garcia drove in a pair of runners with a single through the right side and came around to score off Amherst errors.
- The Mammoths made it 3-1 in the bottom of the first off a sacrifice fly.
- Gary hit a two-run double in the second, followed by an Elise Siciliano triple. Garcia doubled to center for another RBI.
- Amherst chipped away with a run in the second, two in the third, and another in the fifth before Bowdoin would score again.
- Liv Barrett found an RBI single in the sixth to get Bowdoin back on the board.
- Lang, Garcia, and Reilly Parga all had RBI in the seventh. Lang with a sacrifice fly, Garcia with a double, and Parga with a triple.
- Amherst tried to rally in the seventh and got a pair of runs but could not close the gap.
- Garcia went 4-for-5 with four RBI and two doubles. Gary was also 4-for-5 with two RBI and a double.
- Parga hit 3-for-4 and Ewert was 3-for-5.
- Kathleen Hester pitched a complete seven innings with 12 hits allowed and a pair of strikeouts and walks.
