Lach Makes History As Men's Lacrosse Beats Babson

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Jason Lach became the Bowdoin men's lacrosse all-time leading scorer as the Polar Bears defeated Babson 12-6 on Wednesday night.
 
The Polar Bears improve to 7-1 on the season and drop the Beavers to 6-3.
 
Game Highlights
  • Cormac Walsh and Casey Ryan gave Bowdoin a 2-0 lead after the first quarter.
  • Patrick Fitzgerald scored a pair of second quarter goals and Sam Raye-Steiner added another to extend the lead to 5-0.
  • Babson found the net midway through the second to send the teams into halftime with a 5-1 score.
  • The Beavers scored the first goal of the third but were met by two more Bowdoin tallies. The teams traded blows to close out the frame.
  • With his goal at 13:36 in the fourth quarter, Lach became the all-time leading goal scorer in Bowdoin men's lacrosse history with 178 and surpassed long-time record holder Judd Newkirk '97 (177).
  • Lach added to his career mark with a second goal in the frame.Bowdoin outscored the Beavers 3-2 in the final quarter.
 
By the Numbers
  • Fitzgerald scored a hat-trick, as did Huck Trafton. Fitzgerald also dished out three assists.
  • Raye-Steiner scooped up five ground balls.
  • Brooks Kitchel and Jack Pyne each had two caused turnovers.
  • Robert Hobbs made 15 saves for the Polar Bears.
