Early Lead Puts Amherst Out Of Reach In Women's Lacrosse

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's lacrosse team kept Amherst close but could not close the gap in a 13-9 loss on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears are 4-4 overall with a 0-4 NESCAC record. The Mammoths climb to 4-2 (2-2 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Molly Reed scored for the Polar Bears to put Bowdoin on top 1-0 less than a minute in. Amherst responded with three straight goals before Reed recorded another tally to close out the quarter.
  • The Mammoths pushed their lead to 5-2 early in the second, but Reed continued to keep the Polar Bears alive with her third at 9:35.
  • Amherst closed out the quarter with an 8-4 lead.
  • Bowdoin matched the visitors every step of the way in the second half of the game. Both teams produced two goals in the third and three goals in the fourth.
 
By the Numbers
  • Reed paced Bowdoin with three goals. Miya Imaeda added two more and a pair of assists.
  • Hannah Rubin made three saves in the first half and Sophie Brett made six in the second.
  • Reed grabbed eight draw controls, while Anna Paulmann had a game-high four caused turnovers.
