Men's Lacrosse Dominates Western New England in Sunday Win

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team cruised to their second win in as many days, 15-2, at Western New England on Sunday afternoon. The Polar Bears move to 2-0 on the season while WNEU falls to 1-3.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin's defense was the story as the Polar Bears locked down the Bears for the first 52:12 of the game, and came within seven minutes of posting a shutout.
  • The Polar Bears got three first-half goals from Patrick Fitzgerald and two from Jason Lach to build a commanding 11-0 lead at halftime.
  • Four more goals in the third quarter pushed Bowdoin's lead to 15-0 before Western New England scored twice in the seven minute mark of the fourth period.
By The Numbers
  • Bowdoin owned a 56-16 edge in shots and dominated the ground ball total 42-22.
  • Fitzgerald scored a hat trick and added an assist while Lach scored three goals and scooped four ground balls.
  • Casey Ryan had three assists while Kevin Sandor had two caused turnovers and two ground balls.
  • Robert Hobbs made three saves without allowing a goal through three quarters. Alec Delgado made two saves in the fourth period.
