Baseball Opens 2025 By Sweeping Thomas

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin baseball team opened the year with a doubleheader sweep of Thomas on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears opened the year 2-0 with a 9-2 win and 6-1 win over Thomas (0-2).
 
Game One Highlights
  • Thomas went up 1-0 in the top of the first after the leadoff batter reached third and came home on a groundout.
  • Bowdoin responded in the bottom half of the inning with a bases-loaded balk, allowing Will Bordes to score.
  • Cal Thompson scored on an error in the second and drove home a run in the third.
  • Reuben Siegel added to the third-inning tallies with a bases-loaded triple to right.
  • The Polar Bears capitalized on a passed ball in the fourth to make it 6-1 as Kevin Murray came home.
  • Bordes and Liam Foley both had RBI in the sixth to push Bowdoin to 9-1 and the Terriers were only able to find one run in the seventh.
  • Siegel went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Siegel and Murray both had a stolen base.
  • Jason Bogdanos earned the win with five innings of work and five hits allowed. The junior fanned three batters.
  • Alastair Rose pitched the final two innings and allowed no hits with two strikeouts.
 
Game Two Highlights
  • Finn Cahill hit a bases-loaded single up the middle in the first inning to give Bowdoin a 1-0 lead.
  • Murray and Lukas Tsai both drove in runs in the second.
  • The Terriers executed a successful sacrifice bunt in the fourth to make it 3-1.
  • Grant Collins added another bases-loaded single in the fourth to give Bowdoin another run.
  • Bordes and Tsai both recorded RBI singles in the fifth to cap the scoring.
  • Collins and Bordes both had a pair of hits and one RBI each.
  • Luca Coronado McKerley went six innings with one run and one hit allowed with four strikeouts.
  • Bordes pitched the final inning and allowed one hit with one strikeout.
