Baseball Starts Spring Break With Suffolk Sweep

DAVENPORT, Fla. – The Bowdoin baseball team swept Suffolk to remain perfect and begin Spring Break games on Monday evening.
 
The Polar Bears are 4-0 on the season and drop the Rams to 2-6. Bowdoin won the first game 5-2 and the second game 11-7.
 
Game One Highlights
  • RBI singles from Lukas Tsai and Rueben Siegel in the first and second innings gave Bowdoin a 2-0 lead.
  • Chris Dirks tagged a triple to left center that plated Liam Foley and Conor Moriarty sent a sacrifice fly to center to score Dirks.
  • Foley recorded a one-run single to center in the fourth to give Bowdoin a 5-0 lead.
  • Max Martin blasted a two-run homer in the top of the sixth to put Suffolk on the board.
  • Jason Bogdanos earned the win with six innings of work and two runs allowed. The junior struck out eight and allowed eight hits.
  • Will Bordes pitched the final inning and allowed one hit.
  • Bowdoin combined for nine hits with Liam Foley going 3-for-3 and Tsai 2-for-4.
 
Game Two Highlights
  • Bowdoin played as the visiting team in game two and went up 4-0 in the top of the third. Cal Thompson laid down a sacrifice bunt, Siegel hit a two-run double to center, and Will Bordes popped a ball out to left field that allowed Siegel to score.
  • Suffolk took its first lead of the day in the bottom half of the inning. The Rams scored six runs including two bases loaded walks.
  • The Rams scored again in the fourth with another bases loaded walk.
  • Bowdoin chipped away with four runs in the top of the fifth. Kevin Murray and Tsai both recorded RBI and Finn Cahill added a two-run double down the right field line.
  • The Polar Bears extended their lead with a three-run seventh. Will Cooke doubled to left center and plated two while Will Bordes drove Cooke home with a sacrifice fly.
  • Henry Bibeau went 3-for-3 and Cahill was 2-for-4.
  • Bowdoin's pitchers combined for six hits allowed and four earned runs. The Polar Bears walked nine matters and fanned five.
