Baseball Remains Perfect In Win Over Delaware Valley

DAVENPORT, Fla. – The Bowdoin baseball team remained perfect with a 12-4 win against Delaware Valley on Tuesday evening in Florida.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 5-0 on the year and drop the Rams to 1-9.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Rams went ahead 1-0 in the top of the first, but Bowdoin responded with a Chessie RBI groundout.
  • Delaware Valley added two more runs in the third, but Bowdoin tied the game again in the bottom half of the inning. Lukas Tsai singled and drove in Will Bordes and later scored on an error.
  • Bowdoin took its first lead of the day off Kevin Murray's three-run homer in the sixth inning.
  • The Polar Bears piled on four more runs in the seventh. Chris Dirks capitalized on a wild pitch and Cal Thompson walked on a passed ball that gave Will Cooke room to score.
  • Reuben Siegel tagged a two-run double.
  • Chris Aufiero added another RBI double in the eighth and scored on a fielding error later in the innings.
  • The Rams mustered one more run in the top of the ninth.
 
By the Numbers
  • Siegel went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI. Tsai and Cooke both recorded multi-hit games.
  • Siegel, Tsai, and Aufiero all tagged doubles in addition to Murray's home run.
  • Chessie allowed three runs on four hits in 2.2 innings of work. Franco Ruocco pitched 3.1 innings with no hits allowed and four strikeouts. Connor Cassady gave up four hits and a run with two walks and a matching number of strikeouts. Olin Baker closed out the final two outs of the game.
