Baseball Extends Streak In Blowout Win Over La Roche

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Bowdoin baseball team continued its hot start to the season with a 16-5 win over La Roche on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears remain perfect at 6-0 and drop the Redhawks to 2-7.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored 16 straight runs before La Roche put a runner across the plate in the bottom of the sixth.
  • The Polar Bears opened the game with three runs in the first inning off RBI by Liam Foley and Will Cooke. A fielding error allowed another run to score.
  • Will Bordes, Foley, Conor Moriarty, and Cooke all recorded an RBI in the second.
  • Foley and Flinn Cahill each notched an RBI in the third.
  • Robbie Perlman doubled in the fourth and Kevin Murray tripled, each plating runs. Murray later scored on a passed ball. Cahill added an RBI double and Moriarty singled to drive in another run.
  • Rudy Gately drew a bases loaded walk in the sixth and Moriarty scored on a wild pitch to conclude Bowdoin's scoring.
  • La Roche recorded five runs in the sixth inning but could not catch the Polar Bears.
 
By the Numbers
  • Jackson Melenedy pitched five shutout innings without allowing a hit or walk. Melenedy fanned seven batters.
  • Murray went 2-for-4 with four runs scored.
  • Foley led the team with three RBI.
