Women's Lacrosse Blows Past Gulls In Florida Opener

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - The Bowdoin women's lacrosse team got off to a quick start and never looked back en route to an 18-8 victory against Roger Williams in Florida on Tuesday night. 
 
Game Highlights
  • Lauren Burke helped the Polar Bears jump out to a 5-1 lead in the opening quarter, tallying a hat trick during the span. 
  • Trailing 8-2 after another tally from Burke in the second stanza, the Hawks responded with a trio of markers to cut the deficit to four (8-4) at the break.
  • The teams traded the initial five goals of the third quarter before Burke and Georgia Gallagher extended the Bowdoin advantage to 13-7 to close out the stanza.
  • The final frame belonged to the Polar Bears, as the squad tallied five of six markers, highlighted by two from Burke for the 18-8 win.
 
By The Numbers
  • Burke had eight goals during the triumph, which is the most in a game by a Bowdoin player since 1989. The total is tied for third most all-time. 
  • Molly Reed recorded a season-high four tallies.
  • Kimmy Creegan led the way for Roger Williams with four markers, while Ella Waryas paced all players with nine draw controls.
  • Hannah Rubin earned the win between the pipes with five saves.
