Big Second Quarter Lifts Women’s Lacrosse Past Westfield State

PALM CITY BEACH, Fla. - The Bowdoin women's lacrosse team went on a 6-1 run late in the second quarter to pull away from Westfield State for the 14-9 triumph.

The Polar Bears climb to 3-2 and keep the Owls at 0-4. 
 
Game Highlights
  • Molly Reed and Tate Ryan found nylon just over three minutes apart to give the Polar Bears a 2-0 early edge.
  • With 4:25 remaining in the opening stanza, Owl Kylie Buchanan scored to slice the deficit to one (2-1).
  • Bowdoin answered with tallies from Lauren Burke and Maya Imaeda to make it 4-1 after one quarter of action.
  • Westfield State opened the second session with three-straight goals, knotting the contest at 4-4.
  • The Polar Bears answered with their decisive 6-1 run, highlighted by a hat trick from Mara Muse for the 10-5 advantage at the break.
  • The teams traded the initial four markers of the third quarter, before Buchanan sliced the Bowdoin lead to four (12-8).
  • That was as close as the Owls would get as Burke tallied twice in the final frame to secure the 14-9 victory.

  • Natalie DiMaio paced all players with five points (4G, 1A).
  • Reed was one of four Polar Bears to record three points, while leading all players with a career-high seven draw controls.
