Men's Lacrosse Uses Rally To Win Season-Opener at Trinity

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team picked up a season-opening comeback win at Trinity on Saturday afternoon, 16-15. The Polar Bears (1-0) are ranked eighth in the latest Division III national poll.
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin opened the game with a six-goal outburst in the first quarter, but Trinity was able to rally to tie the game at 7-7 by halftime.
  • Trinity outscored Bowdoin 5-3 in the third to open up a 12-10 lead heading into the final quarter.
  • The decisive final period saw Bowdoin take the lead with a 4-0 run sparked by man-up goals from Chris Berry, Jason Lach, and Hudson Greene.
  • After the Bantams cut the lead to 14-13, Patrick Fitzgerald and Jason Lach gave the Polar Bears a three-goal cushion entering the home stretch.
  • The Bantams closed the gap with a pair of goals in the final two minutes, but couldn't knot it back up as the Polar Bears hung on to the victory.

  • Fitzgerald led Bowdoin with four goals and two assists while Casey Ryan had two goals and three assists.
  • Chris Berry and Jason Lach had three goals each for Bowdoin.
  • Jed Hoggard had four caused turnovers and five ground balls to lead the Polar Bears defensively. Robert Hobbs finished with ten saves.
  • Bowdoin finished with a 55-39 edge in shots and 24-10 advantage in faceoffs thanks to a 14-22 performance by Beau Burns.
  • The Polar Bears also went 4-6 with the extra man.
