Late Williams Rally Sinks Men's Basketball

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Williams College men's basketball team used a late rally to down Bowdoin, 66-63, on Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears fall to 11-10 (1-6 NESCAC) while the Ephs move to 14-7 (3-4 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin connected on 48% from the field in the opening half, sparked by 11 points from Ray Cuevas, and held Williams to just 31% on their way to a 34-24 halftime lead.
  • The Polar Bears led by as many as 15 points in the second half, and still led by 14, 54-40, on a three-pointer by Alex Halpern with 10:08 to go.
  • Williams answered with a 20-0 run, holding Bowdoin scoreless for a seven minute stretch to take a 60-54 lead with 2:41 remaining.
  • Bowdoin could never draw even after that, as the Ephs held on to win.
By The Numbers
  • Ray Cuevas finished with a double-double, scoring 17 points with 11 rebounds for Bowdoin.
  • Nolan Bessire had ten points, seven boards, and two blocks, while Ben Chilson pitched in ten points and six rebounds.
  • Williams rallied thanks to 57% shooting in the second half as Bowdoin cooled off to 35%.
