Continentals Sweep Women's Ice Hockey After 3-1 Saturday Game

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's hockey team suffered its second series sweep of the season in a 3-1 Saturday loss to Hamilton.
 
The Polar Bears sit at 13-6-0 with a 7-5-0 NESCAC record. The Continentals climb to 11-9-2 (6-6-2 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin broke through first with 1:36 remaining in the opening period. The Polar Bears piled in to form a scrum in front of the net and Bella Schifano eventually pushed the puck past the goal line.
  • Hamilton answered a minute later as Gabby Martinello fired a shot from the blue line, through traffic in front, and past Sarah Peterson.
  • The Continentals took the lead in the final minute of the period as Grace Crowley pushed the puck from behind the net to Ali Joseph who slipped it up to Lilly Truchon. Truchon finished off the play in front of the net.
  • Lydia Bullock made it 3-1 in favor of the Continentals with a power play goal at 8:47 in the third. Bullock converted on a turnover in the slot to put a shot in the net.
 
By the Numbers
  • Both teams went 0-for-1 on the power play.
  • Teagan Brown made 17 saves to earn the win.
  • Peterson stopped 25 shots for Bowdoin.
  • Hamilton held a 26-19 faceoff advantage.
