Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women's Hockey Falls 2-1 at Home to Hamilton

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's hockey team suffered a 2-1 loss to the visiting Hamilton Continentals on Friday evening.
 
The Polar Bears slip to 13-5-0 with a 7-4-0 NESCAC record. The Continentals are 10-9-2 (5-6-2 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • The Continentals went ahead 1-0 with three seconds remaining in the first period. Bowdoin attempted to clear the puck along the boards, but the puck found a linesman's skate and stayed in the zone. Lily Truchon took the puck toward net and fired a shot that was blocked. Ali Joseph put a shot on net but the rebound kicked back out for a finish by Truchon.
  • Bowdoin finally broke through at 12:09 on the third period. Elizabeth Kent received the puck from Kiley Briand at the top of the zone. Kent sent a pass back to Briand on the top of the near right circle. Briand slipped the puck between the dots for a deflection and goal by Anyi Sun.
  • Hamilton responded three minutes later to regain the lead. Truchon picked the puck off a defender behind the net along the boards and passed up to Brooke Heck on the left point. Heck unleashed a shot that flew through traffic and found net.
 
By the Numbers
  • Hamilton went 0-for-1 on the power play.
  • The Polar Bears were o-for-5 on the power play.
  • Hamilton held a slight 21-20 edge in faceoffs.
  • Teagan Brown earned the win with 24 saves.
  • Sally Solotaroff-Webber made 17 stops for the Polar Bears.
