CLINTON, N.Y. – The Bowdoin men's hockey team battled nationally-ranked Hamilton to earn a 7-5 win on Friday night.
The Polar Bears (8-9-2, 6-5-2 NESCAC) hand the Continentals (15-4-0, 11-2-0 NESCAC) just their second conference loss of the season. Hamilton sits at the top of the NESCAC standings.
Game Highlights
- Bowdoin went ahead 1-0 at 9:37 on a power play goal. Gabe Shipper timed a one-timer on the right side off a backhanded feed from Luke Wheeler.
- The Continentals responded 12 seconds later off a deflection by Alex Danis directly in front of the net off a shot from the right point.
- Hamilton took the lead in the final three minutes of the first off a power play goal from Grisha Gotovets with a one-timer in front.
- Bowdoin answered with another Shipper goal at 5:22 in the second. Xxx intercepted a breakout pass and quickly fed Shipper at the blue line. Shipper skated in and rifled an equalizer.
- Michael Dinges gave the Polar Bears a 3-2 lead just under ten minutes into the frame. Matt Roy fired a shot from the top of the zone and Dinges deflected the puck from the post.
- Alex Danis answered two minutes later as he put a shot off the skate of Jacob Osborne from behind the red line.
- With 2:05 remaining in the second, Justin Wright passed the puck from behind the net up to Mattie Wierl. Wierl redirected the puck to best Aksel Reid for Bowdoin's fourth goal.
- James Cerepak gave Bowdoin its first two goal lead of the day at 13:10 with a shot that popped the goalie's water bottle off the net for emphasis.
- Just 27 seconds later, Hamilton answered with a power play goal to pull within one.
- Bowdoin iced the game with a pair of empty-net goals and the Continentals scored one last tally as the clock expired.
