Men's Basketball Picks Up Big NESCAC Road Win at Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Bowdoin College men's basketball team picked up a big NESCAC road win at Middlebury on Friday evening, 79-64. The Polar Bears improve to 11-10 (1-6 NESCAC) while the Panthers fall to 11-10 (2-5 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin shot the ball well for the entire contest, but was particularly sharp in the opening half as they connected on 53% of their shots, including seven three-pointers.
  • The Polar Bears opened up as much as a 14-point lead midway through the frame following a Ben Chilson three-pointer, and settled for a 41-34 edge at the break.
  • Middlebury stayed within striking distance early in the second half, cutting the lead to as few as two points, and trailing by three, 49-46, with 11:50 to go.
  • Ben Chilson immediately responded with a three-pointer for Bowdoin that pushed the lead back to six, and sparked a 13-2 Polar Bear run that extended the lead to double figures.
  • Bowdoin would never led by fewer than 12 points the rest of the way as they connected on 48% from the field in the second stanza to come away with the win.

  • Ray Cuevas scored a game-high 18 points while Ben Chilson scored 12 points (4-7 from three-point range).
  • Afamdi Achufusi and Alex Halpern had 11 points each for the Polar Bears, while James McGowan added nine.
  • Nolan Bessire led Bowdoin with 11 rebounds and five assists.
  • Bowdoin finished at 50% shooting, including 13-28 from long distance, while holding the Panthers to 28% for the contest.
