Squash Teams Set For NESCAC Tournament This Weekend

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's and women's squash teams have learned their seeding for this weekend's upcoming NESCAC Tournament hosted at Trinity College.

Quarterfinal action begins Saturday when the Polar Bear women, who are seeded sixth, will take on Amherst at noon. The men's team is seeded seventh and will play Williams at 2:00 p.m. in the quarterfinal round. The semifinals and final will be played on Sunday, February 9, with the championship match scheduled for 4 p.m.

Women's Tournament Notes
Bowdoin (8-4) is the No. 6 seed for the second straight tournament. Emma Watts-Roy, who plays number one for the Polar Bears, was the runner-up in the Holleran South Consolation bracket at the CSA Individual Championships last month. In the regular season meeting between the teams, the Mammoths earned an 8-1 win at Bowdoin on January 8, which marked the Polar Bears' first loss of the season. In tournament play, Amherst is 4-1 against the Polar Bears, but the teams have not faced each other in the NESCAC's since 2017.

Men's Tournament Notes
The Polar Bears (8-5) are the No. 7 seed for the second year in a row, and are led by number one player Jack Winston, who owns a 12-1 overall record in team matches this winter (8-0 vs. NESCAC opponents). The Polar Bears reached the championship match the last time Trinity hosted the tournament in 2022 and Bowdoin will be looking for their first NESCAC postseason win against Williams, who recorded a 7-2 win at Bowdoin on January 19.
