Men's Hockey Hosts Tufts in NESCAC Quarterfinal Round Saturday

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's ice hockey team has earned home ice for a NESCAC Quarterfinal game on Saturday, when they host Tufts University at 6:00 p.m. in Watson Arena.

No tickets are required for Saturday's game, which will be carried live by the Northeast Sports Network.

Making their fifth straight appearance in the NESCAC Tournament, the fourth-seeded Polar Bears (9-12-3, 7-8-3 NESCAC) will battle the fifth-seeded Jumbos (10-12-1, 8-10-0 NESCAC). Bowdoin is the No. 4 seed for the first time since 2003 and will host a quarterfinal for the second straight tournament thanks to a seven-game unbeaten streak (4-0-3) in the second half of the season.

Tufts, last year's NESCAC Runners-Up, is the No. 5 seed for the first time in program history. The Jumbos have qualified for the tournament for the fourth year in a row and eighth time in the last nine championships, including last year's first-ever appearance in the conference title game.

The Jumbos and Polar Bears will face off for the second time in a week after Tufts earned a 5-0 win in the regular season finale in Medford, Mass. The Polar Bears won the series' first game, 4-3, on their home ice. The quarterfinal matchup marks the first time the teams will square off in the NESCAC Tournament.

The NESCAC Men's Ice Hockey Championship gets underway on Saturday, March 1, with quarterfinal games at the higher seeds. The highest remaining seed among the quarterfinal winners will host the semifinals on March 8 and the championship game on March 9.
