Women's Hockey Sweeps Williams To Conclude Regular Season

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team celebrated Senior Day with a 2-0 win over Williams to conclude the regular season.

The Polar Bears locked up the number four seed for the NESCAC tournament with a 16-7-0 (10-6-0 NESCAC) record. The Ephs conclude the regular season with a 12-11-1 (5-10-1 NESCAC) record.

Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears broke through early in the second period with a power play goal. Emma Merrill passed to Gia Massari along the right boards. Massari sent a cross-ice pass to Meghan Britt who deflected the puck on the back post.
  • Maddie Wojciak had a promising shot from just beyond the crease during a power play in the final ten minutes of regulation, but Erin Pye came up with the save.
  • Massari gave the Polar Bears some breathing room with 1:11 remaining in the game. Seconds into killing a six-on-four, Massari won the puck off Williams in the Ephs zone and put away an empty-netter.

  • The Ephs were 0-for-4 on the power play.
  • Bowdoin went 1-for-5 on the power play.
  • Sally Solotaroff-Webber made 16 saves for the shutout win.
  • Pye stopped 30 shots, including 16 in the first period, in the setback.
  • Bowdoin won the faceoff battle by a margin of 32-21.
