BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's hockey team saw its season come to an end in a 2-1 NESCAC Quarterfinal loss to #5 Hamilton on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears put together a 16-8-0 season and secured the four seed for the tournament. The Continentals are 3-0 against Bowdoin this season and advance to the semifinals with a 12-11-2 record.
Game Highlights
- Bowdoin scored a power play goal at 5:51 in the first period to go ahead 1-0. Emma Merrill passed up the right boards to Gia Massari. Massari carried into the zone and put a shot off pads. Luna Lu came in and cleaned up the rebound for her second power play goal of the season.
- Seconds after a power play expired, Hamilton tied the game at 13:21 in the second. Cuora Sullivan fired a shot from the top of the zone and Jamie Porter deflected the puck just in front of the net.
- Exactly two minutes later Lisa Ita-Bagshaw dumped a shot on net that snuck five-hole and made it 2-1 for Hamilton
- Jane McCarter produced Bowdoin's best chance in the final four minutes with a shot from the right point that deflected off Teagan Brown and trickled across the goal face.
