Women's Hockey Clinches Home Quarterfinal After 4-0 Win Against Williams

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team clinched a home quarterfinal for the playoffs after defeating visiting Williams 4-0.
The Polar Bears climb to 15-7-0 (9-6-0 NESCAC) with one game remaining in the regular season. Bowdoin has 26 points in conference play to secure a spot in the top four. Williams is 12-10-1 (5-9-1 NESCAC).

Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin struck first just 2:48 into the game. Anyi Sun collected the puck in front of the Bowdoin bench and skated across the ice and into Williams territory. Sun slipped a centering pass to Elena DiMagno in the slot for a one-timer to best Erin Pye.
  • The Polar Bears doubled their lead at exactly the same time in the second period. Ava Provenzo passed to Abigail Ainley who passed back to Provenzo in the slot for a redirect.
  • Elizabeth Kent worked the puck in the left corner and pushed it up along the boards to Ainley who deflected it further to Luna Lu. Lu skated into the zone for a breakaway opportunity and converted.
  • The Polar Bears killed a six-on-four and later scored an empty-netter to make it 4-0. Provenzo recorded the goal with assists from Ainley and Bella Schifano.
By the Numbers
  • Sarah Peterson collected her third shutout of the season with 23 saves.
  • Pye made 20 stops for the Ephs.
  • The Ephs were 0-for-3 on the power play.
  • The Polar Bears owned a 28-19 edge in faceoff wins.
