Men's Hockey Loses In Overtime At Home To Wesleyan

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey fell 4-3 in overtime in a back-and-forth battle with Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears head into the final weekend of the regular season with a 9-10-3 (7-6-3 NESCAC) record. The Cardinals are 6-13-3 (5-10-1 NESCAC).

Game Highlights
  • The best chance of the first period came with 7:30 remaining as Connor Sutherland rang a shot off the right post during a Wesleyan power play.
  • Bowdoin took the lead at 4:49 in the second. Aidan Lyons poked the puck out from the deep left corner down to James Cerepak. Cerepak crossed a pass up to Jack Gilligan who snuck an off-speed shot into the net.
  • Wesleyan answered with a power play goal midway through the period. Owen Sweet took the puck behind the goal line on the right side and passed up to Danny Judge for a shot to beat Jacob Osborne.
  • Lyons regained the lead for Bowdoin as he finished off a cross net feed from Luke Wheeler and Cerepak.
  • A minute later the Cardinals responded with tic-tac-toe passing with a finish on the right post by Hayden Hanes.
  • The Cardinals power play continued to hum as they took the lead with under four minutes into the third with a goal by Jack Kane.
  • Bowdoin countered with an equalizer off the stick of Jack Barbro. Jackson Holl found Wheeler who fed Barbro in front.
  • Jake Geraci scored in overtime to give the Cardinals the win.
