Women's Hockey Closes Out 2025 Slate with 3-1 Win Over USM

GORHAM, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team closed out the first semester with a 3-1 win at the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday night.
 
The Polar Bears (7-2-0) end 2025 with three straight wins. The Huskies are 4-6-0.

Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears took a 1-0 lead in the final five minutes of the first period off a goal from Sofia Nesvold. Nesvold placed a perfect wrister over Maggie Jones's left shoulder from the left point.
  • Luna Lu pushed Bowdoin's lead to two early in the second. Bella Schifano tried to cut through a pair of defenders but got closed out. Lu came in right behind and collected the puck for a quick shot.
  • Midway through the frame, USM broke through. Joely Power won a faceoff on the left dot and kicked the puck back to Anna Elizarkov who buried a shot over Sarah Peterson's glove.
  • The Polar Bears added to their goal tally with a finish at 13:31 in the third. Sara Ito-Bagshaw found Bea Palmer with a feed from behind the net to in front of the crease. Palmer deflected the puck back on net.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin put 35 shots on net and allowed 20.
  • Both teams went 0-for-4 on the power play.
  • Peterson made 19 stops.
  • Jones stopped 32 shots.
  • The Huskies won 28 faceoffs to Bowdoin's 24.
