Women's Hockey Blows Past Keene State On Sunday Afternoon

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team scored four unanswered goals to secure a 5-1 win over Keene State on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 6-2-0 and drop the Owls to 4-6-0.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin struck first with a goal at 6:06 in the first period. Emma Merrill fired a shot on pads and Bella Schifano collected the rebound. Schifano wrapped around the back side of the net and passed to Anyi Sun between the dots.
  • The Owls tied the game three minutes later off a Bowdoin turnover while clearing the defensive zone. Ellie Patrick intercepted the breakout pass and skated straight down the slot toward Ericah Folden.
  • The Polar Bears regained the lead with 5:27 remaining in the second period. Meghan Britt took the puck to the left point and crossed the puck to Bea Palmer on the far side. Palmer found Maddie Wojciak on the post for a finish.
  • Britt intercepted a pass at the top of the Keene zone in front of the visitors' bench and carried back in along the left side. Britt passed right to Luna Lu, who backhanded the puck, dragged it across her body to the forehand, and wristed a shot in at 6:40.
  • Bowdoin extended its lead six minutes later after Bella Mele took a shot from the left side and Wojciak shoved home the rebound.
  • The Polar Bears iced the game with a last minute goal. Schifano received a pass from Sara Ito-Bagshaw and carried down the right. Schifano centered the puck for Britt in the slot and a one-timer.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin went 1-for-2 on the power play and stayed out of the box.
  • Ai Chung made 35 saves for the Owls.
  • Ericah Folden earned her first Bowdoin win with nine saves.
  • Bowdoin held a narrow 21-20 edge in faceoff wins.
