Polar Bears Ground Hawks As Men's Hockey Goes Undefeated in Colby Bowdoin Classic Weekend

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team defeated Saint Anselm College 7-1 to come out of the Bowdoin Colby Classic with a perfect 2-0-0 record.
 
The Polar Bears are 5-1-0 and drop the Hawks to 2-7-2.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Hawks scored quickly to take a 1-0 lead just 3:05 into the game.
  • Bowdoin broke through with a pair of goals from Justin Wright and Ricky Volpe to close out the period with a 2-1 lead.
  • The remainder of the game fell in Bowdoin's favor as Colin Wojcienchowski and Jayson Alegria scored within nine seconds of each other, three seconds off the program record, in the second frame to make it 4-1.
  • Bryce Bollman, Will Rice, and Alegria all scored in the third period. Rice scored on the power play with 3:03 remaining and Alegria's came in the final 19 seconds.
 
By the Numbers
  • The Hawks went 0-for-2 while Bowdoin was 1-for-2.
  • AJ DiChiara made 27 saves for the win.
  • Tucker Hanson stopped 32 shots for Saint Anselm.
  • The teams were a perfect split in faceoff wins with 29 each.
