BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin sophomore
Angus Leary (West Roxbury, Mass.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Leary led the Polar Bear defense in a 17-9 victory over Bates on Saturday. He recorded seven tackles and 2.5 sacks, including one that forced a fumble late in the second quarter as Bates was driving at midfield. Leary is the conference leader in sacks (8.5) and tackles for loss (15.0). With 14.5 career sacks, Leary stands sixth all-time at Bowdoin after just two seasons.
The Polar Bears will travel to Waterville on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. for the 136
th meeting with Colby, with the CBB championship on the line. Colby currently holds the CBB trophy, after taking it from Bowdoin last fall with a 34-10 victory in Brunswick.
