Women's Hockey Heads To Codfish Bowl Championship After Win Over William Smith

BOSTON, Mass. – The Bowdoin women's hockey team cruised past William Smith 5-1 to advance to the Codfish Bowl Championship game.

The Polar Bears (4-2-0) handed the Herons (5-2-0) their second loss of the season.

Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin struck first just 4:27 into the game. The Polar Bears won a faceoff on the right dot and Maddie Wojciak swung the puck from right point to left and Bella Mele. Mele went back post for a one-timer by Luna Lu.
  • The Herons tied the game late in the second period. A Bowdoin turnover in the zone set up Lilly Relyea in front of the crease for a glove side finish.
  • The Polar Bears responded a minute later. Luna Lu had the puck on the right side and found Meghan Britt on the back post for a one-timer.
  • Molly Cataldo had her first collegiate goal with 1:06 remaining in the period. Kendrick LaPrade was behind the net and found Cataldo in front for a one-timer finish.
  • Bowdoin earned a power play goal just under five into the third period. Bea Palmer also tallied her first goal in a Polar Bear uniform with a power play finish on her own rebound.
  • Britt made it 5-1 with Bowdoin's second goal in less than a minute.
