Nor'Easters Blow Through Brunswick With 2-1 Win Over Women's Hockey

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team fell 2-1 to visiting University of New England on Tuesday evening.
 
The Polar Bears are 3-2-0 as the Nor'Easters rise to 3-5-0.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Nor'Easters took advantage of a power play opportunity early in the second period. Jenne Kirch found Amanda Forziati behind the net. Forziati moved the puck back up to Averi Curran at the top of Bowdoin's crease for a finish.
  • UNE doubled its goal tally four minutes later. Danielle McCarthy picked off a breakout pass along the right boards and passed far side to Jamie DuPont for an open look on net.
  • Bowdoin finally broke through with a power play tally midway through the third period. Maddie Wojciak put a shot of the boards and Anyi Sun collected the puck in the left corner and skated up to the faceoff circle. Sun found Bella Mele in the slot who received the puck and released a shot in smooth motion.

  • Bowdoin went 1-for-6 on the power play.
  • UNE was 1-for-3 on the power play.
  • Ericah Folden stopped 15 shots in her collegiate debut.
  • Kyleigh Matola made 30 saves for UNE.
  • Bowdoin won the faceoff battle 35-22.
