Men's Hoops Cruises to Tuesday Afternoon Blowout of Springfield

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's basketball team scored its most points in a game since January of 2023 in a 97-63 blowout of Springfield on Tuesday afternoon in Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears improve to 4-1 on the season while the Pride fall to 2-4.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears came out firing, connecting on 58% of their shots in the first half, including 6-7 from three-point range.
  • Bowdoin opened up a 19-4 lead out of the gate following a three-pointer from Ray Cuevas just five minutes into the contest.
  • The Polar Bears maintained their double-digit lead into the break, holding a 46-32 advantage at halftime.
  • The Pride got as close as 12 points, 48-36, early in the second half, but Bowdoin put the game out of reach with a 14-3 surge, pushing the lead to 23 points following another three-pointer from Cuevas with 15 minutes to go.
  • Springfield got no closer than 20 after that as Bowdoin's final 34-point margin matched their largest lead of the game.

  • Bowdoin finished at 56% shooting for the contest, including 11-18 from long range.
  • Ray Cuevas continued his scalding hot start to the year, scoring 29 points with eight rebounds and four assists, connecting on 6-7 from downtown.
  • Kevin Reeves posted a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds with three blocks.
  • Mason Dawkins added 15 points and eight assists on 7-10 shooting.
  • Bowdoin held Springfield to 35% shooting for the game and owned a 51-36 edge on the glass.
