Women's Hoops Stays Perfect With Road Win at Union

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team used a big second quarter to pull away from Union in a 68-56 win on Monday evening. The Polar Bears (4-0) led by as many as 27 points in the fourth quarter as they remain unbeaten on the year. Union drop their first game of the season and fall to 3-1. 

Game Highlights
  • Both teams came out firing in a high-scoring first quarter that saw Bowdoin connect on 59% and Union 64% of their shots. 
  • Carly Davey had nine points in the frame as Bowdoin clung to a 28-26 lead after ten minutes. 
  • Bowdoin found its defensive footing in the second and third quarters, however, holding Union to 6-24 shooting over the next two periods as they pulled away. 
  • Payton Collins and Grace Kinum had six points each to spark a 20-6 second quarter that gave Bowdoin a 48-32 lead at the break.
  • Bowdoin continued to roll in the third, as Abbie Quinn's nine points helped the Polar Bears increase their advantage to 65-41 entering the fourth. 
  • The Polar Bears pushed their lead to as many as 27 points early in the fourth quarter before a late Union flurry cut the final margin to 12.

  • Abbie Quinn scored a game-high 18 points with six boards on 7-11 shooting while Grace Kinum finished with 17 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals. 
  • Carly Davey added 11 points and five boards for Bowdoin. 
  • The Polar Bears owned a 46-31 edge on the glass and scored 14 second chance points. 
  • Bowdoin connected on 15-17 from the free throw line in the contest.
