Women's Rugby Season Ends in NIRA Semifinal Loss

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's rugby team saw their season come to a close in a 19-5 loss to West Chester in the semifinals of the NIRA Division II Tournament Saturday at Pickard Field. The Polar Bears end a successful debut season in Division II with a record of 5-2.
 
Match Highlights
  • After tight play over opening 20 minutes, Bowdoin took a 5-0 lead on a try from Jesse Vanston.
  • West Chester marched into Bowdoin territory late in the half but could not finish the drive as the Polar Bears held a slim 5-0 lead at the half.
  • The Rams rallied in the second half, however, scoring 19 straight points to take control of the match.
  • Bowdoin standouts included Maddy Kosmoski, who was a difference maker in lineouts all year and posted several steals in today's match.
  • Amanda Korfin led Bowdoin's tackling efforts and Katie Stomma filled in at number 10 for the Polar Bears. Kyra Bishop helped Bowdoin to its first half lead and maintained the second half efforts despite the second half comeback.
