Women's Hockey Completes Weekend Sweep of Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Bowdoin College women's ice hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Wesleyan on Saturday, posting a 2-0 win over the Cardinals to move to 2-0-0 (2-0-0) to start the campaign. Wesleyan falls to 0-2-0 (0-2-0 NESCAC).

Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin broke through 9:18 into the second period. Bowdoin pinned the Cardinals defense in their own zone and forced a costly turnover directly in front of the net. Meghan Britt intercepted the puck off Wesleyan between the dots and fired a quick shot past Sami Smith.
  • The Polar Bears cashed in on the power play in the third period when Luna Lu buried a feed from Emma Merrill to double the lead at 2:30 of the frame.
  • That proved to be all Abby Matusovich would need in net for Bowdoin, as the Polar Bear defense kept the Cardinals off the board to secure the win.
By The Numbers
  • Matusovich made 30 saves for Bowdoin, including 12 in both the first and second periods.
  • The Polar Bears held the Cardinals to 0-4 on the power play in the contest.
