Polar Bears Ice Panthers In 4-0 Men's Hockey Shutout

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team opened the 2025-26 season with a 4-0 home shutout over Middlebury on Friday night.

The Polar Bears begin the year 1-0-0 and drop the Panthers to 0-1-0.

Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored its first goal of the season less than 30 seconds into the game. Isaac Abbott collected his own rebound on the left post and wrapped around to tuck the puck away on the right.
  • The Polar Bears scored a power play goal with 5:45 remaining in the first period. Abbott controlled the puck at the top of the zone and found Gabe Shipper on the right point. Shipper fired a shot, and the puck deflected off a defender to Will Rice for the goal.
  • J.J. Lemieux scored 2:47 into the third to make it 3-0 in favor of Bowdoin. Abbott picked up the puck deep in his own zone and passed up the left boards to Aidan Lyons. Lyons saucered a pass to Lemioux on the center dot and Lemioux took the puck straight down the slot for a goal.
  • Two minutes later, Bowdoin made it 4-0. Shipper had the puck behind the net and found Justin Wright for a one-timer in front.
