MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Middlebury field hockey team avenged a regular season loss to Bowdoin, pinning a 3-2 setback on the Polar Bears in the NESCAC quarterfinals.
The Polar Bears sit at 9-7 as the Panthers climb to 12-4.
Game Highlights
- Mackay Bommer scored the game's first goal with a tally at 4:03. Maddie Mrva started the play with a hit into the circle that was tipped by Hannah Balmelli to the back post. Bommer slammed home the ball to take the lead.
- Middlebury tied the game 1:48 into the second quarter with a successful penalty stroke.
- The Panthers took the lead less than 1:30 into the third quarter. Megan Fuqua fired a shot from the top of the circle on a corner and Ellie Harrison tipped the ball at the left corner.
- Fei Yang-Sady came up with an equalizer to force overtime in the final five minutes of the third.
- Middlebury took the win with a goal four minutes into overtime off the stick of Claire McMichael.
