Field Hockey Cruises To Midweek Win at Husson

BANGOR, Maine – The Bowdoin field hockey team remained perfect in non-conference play with a 4-1 win over host Husson on Wednesday night.
 
The Polar Bears are 8-2 and drop the Eagles to 3-6.
 
Game Highlights
  • Emily Ferguson got Bowdoin started at 5:09. Ferguson dribbled around the defense and down the right side of the circle before putting a shot on goal from the near post.
  • Husson answered in the final minutes of the first quarter to even the game on a penalty corner. The Eagles fired a shot from the top of the circle that was deflected off the crossbar by Faith Tillotson. Lauryn Brown batted the ball out of the air on the ricochet to make it 1-1.
  • Mackay Bommer finished off a corner play at the right post with Maddie Mrva recording the assist.
  • Hannah Balmelli made it 3-1 just two minutes into the second half, firing a shot off from the top left corner of the circle.
  • Mrva tallied a goal of her own in the final five minutes of the game with a rocket from the top right side.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin held a 12-2 edge in shots on goal.
  • The Polar Bears earned seven corners and allowed three.
  • Lauren O'Donald played the first three quarters and made one stop. Eva Filipponi played the final quarter.
  • Ella Duchette made seven saves for Husson.
