Polar Bears Hold Off Trinity in 1-0 Win

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin field hockey team extended it win streak with a tight 1-0 victory over visiting Trinity on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 9-2 (5-2 NESCAC) while the Bantams fall to 3-8 (1-6 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Hannah Balmelli scored the game-winning goal just two minutes into the first quarter. Emily Ferguson fired a shot from the top of the circle and Balmelli gave the ball a power boost as in came through, connecting with a short stick slapshot as it came by.
  • The field slanted in Bowdoin's favor for the first half with an 8-1 edge in shots.
  • Trinity ramped up pressure in the second half and kept Bowdoin pinned in their defensive end for long portions of the game.
  • The Bantams pulled their goalie in the final five minutes and went up two field players after a Bowdoin card.

  • Bowdoin outshot Trinity 11-4 with a 6-0 edge in shots on goal.
  • The Polar Bears earned three corners and allowed two.
  • O'Donald played the full game for Bowdoin to earn the key shutout.
