Volleyball Cruises To Friday Sweep of Amherst

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College volleyball team dominated from start to finish of a 3-0 sweep of Amherst on Friday evening in Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears improve to 7-6 (1-2 NESCAC) with the win while the Mammoths fall to 5-3 (2-2 NESCAC).
 
Match Highlights
  • Bowdoin finished off Amherst in less than 90 minutes, taking a 25-19, 25-11, 25-22 decision.
  • The Polar Bears jumped ahead in the opening set after some back-and-forth in the early going, rolling off a 7-2 run to take a 13-6 edge. Amherst could get no closer than four points for the remainder of the set as Bowdoin took a 1-0 advantage.
  • Bowdoin made quick work in the second, jumping to an 11-4 lead and closing the set on a 6-1 run to take a 2-0 overall lead.
  • The Polar Bears built a 20-13 lead in the third set, but a late surge by the Mammoths closed the gap to 22-21. Cameron Shelly put home a kill to give Bowdoin some insurance and Zoe Ryu finished it off to complete the sweep.

  • Zoe Ryu ended with a match-high 12 kills while Sky LaMendola added nine with six digs and two blocks.
  • Cameron Shelly had 31 assists, four kills, and two aces.
  • Anna Yeh led Bowdoin with 12 digs while Kelsey Kim added a team-best five aces on the night.
