Field Hockey Falls In Regular Season Finale To Tufts

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin field hockey team concluded the regular season with a 5-1 loss at home against Tufts.
 
The Polar Bears enter the post-season with a 9-6 (5-5 NESCAC) record. The Jumbos locked up the top spot in the conference with a 13-2 (9-1 NESCAC) regular season.
 
 Game Highlights
  • Tufts scored on a successful penalty stroke in the first four minutes by Claire Casey. The Jumbos made it 2-0 heading into halftime with a Sophie Brants goal from Hannah Murray.
  • Casey scored in the final five minutes of the third quarter on a penalty corner to make it 3-0.
  • Tufts scored two goals in the span of three in minutes in the fourth to take an insurmountable 5-0 lead.
  • Bowdoin spoiled the shutout in the last three minutes as Clara Noyes fired a shot from the top of the circle on a corner and Mackay Bommer tipped the ball on the far post.

  • Bowdoin held a 13-9 overall shot advantage and 9-8 shots on goal edge.
  • Casey made a pair of defensive saves to add to Lydia Eastburn's six saves.
