Women's Rugby Drops NIRA Finale to American International

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's rugby team suffered a  43-0 setback to American International College on Friday evening at Pickard Field. The Polar Bears take their first NIRA Division II loss of the season and fall to 4-1 overall. AIC stands at 5-1 on the year.

Match Highlights
  • Bowdoin stayed with the reigning D-II champs for the majority of the contest, using a strong kicking game and forcing AIC into corners for challenging conversions.
  • AIC scored 17 first half points and used a stand right before halftime to take that edge into intermission.
  • The Yellow Jackets pulled away with a 26-point second half surge to put the contest out of reach.
Up Next
  • Bowdoin will host Bishop's University in a non-conference match next weekend (Saturday at 3:00 p.m.) and will learn their NIRA postseason status this week when pairings are announced.
