Field Hockey Stumbles At Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Bowdoin field hockey team suffered it second loss of the week in a 4-2 setback at Wesleyan.
 
The Polar bears are 9-4 with a 5-3 NESCAC record. The Cardinals sport a matching conference record and a 9-3 overall mark.
 
Game Highlights
  • Wesleyan went up 1-0 just 3:40 into the first quarter. Meera Patel crossed a pass to the far left post from deep in the circle. Georgie Adams made a diving play at the back post to deflected the ball past Lauren O'Donald.
  • Bowdoin answered with two goals in the second quarter to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
  • Maddie Mrva scored Bowdoin's first goal with a successful penalty corner conversion from the top.
  • Lily Clifford gave Bowdoin the lead for minutes later.
  • Wesleyan came out of halftime and scored barely a minute into action to tie the game.
  • The Cardinals added two quick goals in the 52nd and 55th minutes to post a 4-2 score.
 
By the Numbers
  • Wesleyan outshot the Polar Bears 10-7 overall and 10-6 in shots on goal.
  • The Cardinals earned nine corners and Bowdoin had seven.
