Volleyball Extends Winning Streak With Sweep at Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Bowdoin College volleyball team dispatched Middlebury in three sets on Friday, extending their winning streak to five straight matches. The Polar Bears improve to 10-6 (3-2 NESCAC) with the win while the Panthers fall to 11-6 (4-2 NESCAC).
 
Match Highlights
  • The Polar Bears earned the sweep by set scores of 25-21, 25-14, 25-23.
  •  Knotted at 7-7 in the first set, Skye LaMendola sparked a 4-0 Polar Bear spurt with her second kill of the initial session to build an 11-7 edge. Bowdoin would never trail after that and claimed five of the final seven points to claim the opening stanza.
  • Bowdoin grabbed an early 10-7 lead to start the second and took complete command with an 11-3 surge with Skye LaMendola and and Alison Smith racking up four kills each in the run en route to the second set triumph.
  • The Polar Bears raced to a 9-3 edge early in the third and the teams played fairly even after that, splitting the final 18 points. Smith delivered the final kill to secure the win for the Polar Bears.
