Women's Basketball Never Trails in Road Victory at Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team cruised to a 79-59 win at New Jersey City University on Saturday afternoon, moving to 11-0 on the season. With the loss NJCU falls to 3-8 on the season.

  • Bowdoin never trailed in their final tune-up before the NESCAC season begins this coming weekend, scoring the first ten points of the contest and never looking back.
  • Maria Belardi hit a pair of three-pointers to spark the game-opening run, as the Polar Bears led 21-11 after ten minutes of play and carried a 39-25 edge into the halftime break.
  • The Polar Bears put the game away with a dominating third quarter, opening the second half on a 16-0 surge, capped by a running lay-in by Sydney Jones to give the visitors a 55-27 lead midway through the frame.
  • Bowdoin led by as many as 35 points in the fourth quarter on their way to the win.

  • The Polar Bears finished at a tidy 53% shooting from the field, and held NJCU to just 33% for the contest.
