Fourth Quarter Propels Women's Hoops to Double-Digit Win Over Tufts

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team used a big fourth quarter to put away Tufts, 62-47, on Friday night in Morrell Gymnasium. The fourth-ranked Polar Bears improve to 12-0 (1-0 NESCAC) while the Jumbos fall to 9-5 (0-1 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • The teams battled through a low-scoring first half, with Tufts building a six-point lead, 24-18, thanks to a 10-3 surge to start the second quarter.
  • A Carly Davey three-pointer sparked a 9-2 Bowdoin run to close out the half and give the hosts a 27-26 lead at the break.
  • Bowdoin led throughout the third quarter but couldn't pull away, holding a 40-36 lead heading into the fourth.  
  • The Polar Bears took command in the final period, shooting 61% from the field to pull away.
  • With Bowdoin leading by two, 47-45, with 6:22 to go, Rachel Storey scored four straight points to spark a game-ending 15-2 run to seal the victory.

  • Sydney Jones led the Polar Bears, scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and three assists in the victory.
  • Abbie Quinn scored 14 while Carly Davey added 11. Callie Godfrey had six rebounds.
  • Bowdoin finished at 42% shooting for the game while holding Tufts to 35%.
  • The Polar Bears held a 38-32 edge on the glass, scoring 13 second chance points and totaled 13 points off 15 Tufts turnovers.
