Men's Hockey Drops Overtime Decision at USM

GORHAM, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team suffered an overtime setback at the University of Southern Maine in a 6-5 final.
 
The Polar Bears slip to 5-6-0 on the year. The Huskies climb to 3-7-1.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears came out of the first intermission and broke through just 1:12 into second. Michael Dinges collected the puck behind the net and found Aidan Lyons low on the left. Lyons handled twice on the doorstep before calmly wristing the puck top shelf.
  • Lyons had his second goal of the game five minutes later. Luke Wheeler sent a pass from the right boards to Lyons coming down the slot. Lyons skated uncontested and easily finished off the play.
  • Hunter Fetterolf made a sliding hook pass to Isaac Abbot on the left post to make it 3-0 at 9:27 in the second.
  • The Huskies chipped away at the deficit with two goals in the final five minutes of the period, including one in the final minute that rattled around midair in the crease before finding its way into the net.
  • The teams played a wild third period with a combined four goals in the first ten minutes. Trailing 5-4, USM found an equalizer at 12:55.
  • Just over a minute into overtime, the Huskies stunned the Polar Bears with a game-winner.
