Women's Hockey Starts New Year With 5-3 Win Over Suffolk

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team opened 2025 by extending its win streak with a 5-3 victory over visiting Suffolk on Friday evening.
 
The Polar Bears are a perfect 9-0-0 on the season. The Rams drop to 5-7-0.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin got on the board early with a Meghan Britt goal at 2:56 in the first. Gia Massari put a shot off the pads and Britt cleaned up the rebound.
  • Massari and Britt combined for Bowdoin's second less than two minutes later. Massari received the puck on the inside edge of the left circle and made a quick pass to Britt on the right for a smooth finish before Katelyn Michals could adjust.
  • Luna Lu added to the goal tally with a deflection through the five hole off a left point Bella Burghart shot.
  • Suffolk got on the board at 1:50 in the second after a breakout pass from their own defensive end to Bela Schmidt. Schmidt carried from her own blue line down to Bowdoin territory and put a shot in.
  • Massari cleaned up her own rebound at 7:42 to make it 4-1 and Ava Imposimato converted on a power play to push the lead to four.
  • The Rams scored two quick goals in the span of 21 seconds to push the score to 5-3 early in the third period.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin went 1-for-2 on the power play and held the Rams to scoreless on their one power play opportunity.
  • Michals suffered the loss with 20 saves.
  • Abby Matusovich picked up her second win of the season with eight stops.
  • Bowdoin held a 26-23 edge on the faceoff dot.
