Women's Hoops Sails Past Maine Maritime in Tuesday Night Win

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team jumped all over Maine Maritime in the opening five minutes of the game and cruised to a 77-55 victory on Tuesday night in Morrell Gymnasium. The fourth-ranked Polar Bears (18-0) closed out their non-conference schedule with the victory while the Mariners fall to 16-4 on the season.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears put the game out of reach early, scoring the first ten points of the game and building a 22-4 lead just 5:26 into the contest.
  • Bowdoin shot a scalding 85% from three-point range in the opening quarter (6-7) and led by as many as 21 points following a three-pointer from Rachel Storey late in the frame.
  • The Polar Bears led 49-27 at halftime and  never led by fewer than 19 points for the remainder of the contest, pushing their edge to as many as 28 points in the second half in coasting to the victory.

  • Bowdoin ended at 50% shooting for the game and 46% from three-point range while also hitting 11-12 free throws.
  • Carly Davey led four players in double figures, scoring 14 points while Maria Belardi added 12 and Melissa Leone had a career-high 11.
  • Abbie Quinn scored ten points in 18 minutes of action while Sydney Jones scored eight points with seven rebounds, and five assists.
  • Grace Kinum scored nine point and Maddie Wilkin added eight in the win.
  • Bowdoin had a 38-25 edge on the glass and scored 21 points off turnovers.
