Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women's Hockey Downs Top-Ranked Middlebury 2-1 In Vermont

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team earned a series split with top-ranked Middlebury after a 2-1 win on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears avenged their first NESCAC loss of the season to climb to 13-2-0 and 7-1-0 in NESCAC. The Panthers are 13-2-1 (7-2-1 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • With 1:01 remaining in the first period, Bowdoin scored its first goal of the weekend on Middlebury to go ahead 1-0. Gia Massari came down the slot and put a shot off pads. Meghan Britt quickly found the rebound and put the puck past Sophia Will.
  • The Panthers tied the game in the second with a successful power play conversion. Sabrina Kim skated around the outside edge of the right circle and passed back to Cat Appleyard on the inside. Appleyard put the puck just over the right shoulder of Sarah Peterson.
  • Emma Merrill regained the lead for Bowdoin early in the third with a power play goal. Merrill took the puck to the top of the zone and fired a shot straight through the screen.

  • Bowdoin went 1-for-3 on the power play.
  • Middlebury went 1-for-4 on the power play.
  • Peterson ended the day with 26 saves to earn the win.
